Dear Senator John Fetterman, Congressman Ritchie Torres, Mr. Douglas Murray & Mr. Bill Maher,

I hope this letter finds you well. With only three days left until Passover, the foundational holiday on which the Jewish nation was born at the exodus from Egypt, I am writing to you to voice my sincere, heartfelt, gratitude.

I was raised in a Jewish, Hasidic, home in Brooklyn, New York, where my parents, my schoolteachers, my community, my mentor The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, of blessed memory, instilled in me the invaluable trait of being grateful to those who are good to you and to the world at large. From the street cop to the school principal, the taxi driver to the nurse at the doctor’s office, the subway conductor to the garbage collector, expressing gratitude is embedded in our Jewish DNA and is a basic tenet of our Torah.

Over the past six months, since the horrific day of October 7th, I’ve watched in dread as segments of our society, even in civilized countries such as the USA, Canada, France, England, and Australia, have chosen to side with Nazi-like terrorists who butchered, raped, beheaded, tortured, burned alive my fellow Jews in the name of Islam. It’s unfathomable and I refuse to sugarcoat it. Too many imams in mosques from Manchester to Toulouse, Chechnya to Toronto, Beverly Hills to Dearborn, are spewing pure, unadulterated, Jew hatred. They are condoning the massacre of Jews, they are condoning the April 14th Iran missile attack on Israel, they are condoning the captivity of over one hundred remaining hostages in Gaza, including babies. They aren’t hiding; they are telling us straight up that Jews aren’t their cup of tea and that they want us all dead.

They scream words like “Apartheid”, “Genocide”, “Occupation”, “Ethnic cleansing” and other lies, when in truth, Israel is a country that is home to its indigenous Jewish population but also to millions of Muslims, Christians, Baha’is, Bedouins, Druze, and many other minorities. Due to our infinite kindness, not seen anywhere else in the middle east, Arab men and women have equal rights under Israel’s law and can rise to the highest seats of power, politically, judicially, militarily, and economically. There is no genocide in Gaza, there is no apartheid in Israel, you can’t occupy your own land, and there is no ethnicity being cleansed.

    It’s a lie.

As Winston Churchill said, “a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on”. Isaiah, the incredible Jewish prophet, said “Woe to those who say of the evil that it is good and of the good that it is evil, who present darkness as light and light as darkness, who present bitter as sweet and sweet as bitter.”.

Nothing new is under the sun!

We have people dressed in Kaifiya’s and masks, roaming the streets of America chanting things like “death to America”, “down with America”, “genocide Joe”, they are burning American flags, intruding rudely, and at times violently, at college campuses, local eateries, and now even at people’s homes. They attack police, get in the face of our elected officials with foul language, and spew vitriol on social media. Some of the same people who were rightfully upset when Americans marched in Charlottesville screaming “Jews will not replace us”, are now at the forefront of those seeking to replace the Jews. Without any basic feelings of humanity, they block access to airports, march by hospitals while screaming nastiness at cancer patients, and interrupt events to which they were not invited. They side with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Ayatollah Khamenei; essentially tearing at the fabric of our civil society.

Yet, amid the chaos, amid the pandering media, there are voices such as yours that are clear, unequivocal, moral, and true. While the Sunny Hostin’s, Tucker Carlson’s, Cenk Uygur’s, Candace Owens’s, and Mehdi Hasan’s are out there vilifying the Jews and making Jew hatred acceptable in America, you are out there speaking truth, sharing facts, debating the issues, debunking the lies, and are standing with the Jewish people in their toughest time since the holocaust.    Despite the onslaught of abuse that you’ve endured, you haven’t surrendered to the mob and you’re choosing light over darkness. In a world of immorality and distortion of history, you recognize evil, hypocrisy, antisemitism, and acts of cruelty for what they are, and refrain from blurring the fine lines between self-defense and aggressive warmongering.  Standing with the Jews isn’t hip or woke, it’s not “good for business” if all you seek in life is “likes” and “reshares”, but boy is it refreshing, and so encouraging, to know that you’re out there.

This Monday evening, April 22, we will usher in Passover. We will sit around our Seder tables and recount the history of our slavery to The Pharaoh, an Egyptian antisemitic tyrant, and celebrate G-d’s miracle of our redemption. Jews never forget our history, the good, the bad and even the ugly, all of our past comes together to make us who we are and guides us into the future. We remember those who hurt us, who betrayed us, and we always remember and celebrate those who could’ve ignored our plight but chose to stand with us in our time of need. Jews in America appreciate the gift that is the United States. We appreciate its freedom, we love our flag, and we are grateful for what it has given our community, namely the opportunity to worship freely without government interference or persecution. We don’t spit in the well that has quenched our thirst, and we don’t take our liberty for granted.

Mamre stood with Abraham in Canaan, Batya stood with Moses in Egypt, Hiram of Tyre stood with King Solomon, Charvona stood with Mordechai and Esther during the story of Purim, Cyrus of Persia stood with Ezra in his quest to return to Israel, Antoninus of Rome stood with his friend Rabbi Judah the Prince, the Grand Duke of Frankfurt was kind to the Jews of Germany, King Christian X of Denmark, Oskar Schindler, Chiune Sugihara, and Chrysostomos of Zakynthos, along with many other gentiles, stood with the Jews during the holocaust. Each of them, like you, saw evil and said, “not in our town”, “not under our watch”.

Each of you will be remembered for defending the Jews, G-d’s chosen people, during this time and not cowering when humanity needed clarity. Senator, your unwavering support for Israel is awe-inspiring. Congressman, even in the lion’s den you stand on principal like Daniel. Douglas, while the anti-Jewish media tries to play gotcha and invents facts, you are the beacon of light and sanity in the United Kingdom and beyond. Bill, though your jokes about religion isn’t my genre, your lucidity and humor on the situation in Israel is admirable and appreciated. You, along with people like Dr. Phil, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Megyn Kelly, Bono, Meghan McCain, and Chris Rock will be remembered for your unwavering support of the Jewish people and our homeland. I know that the pressure is hard to withstand, but you guys are strong and must remain strong.

We don’t want a temporary ceasefire for the terrorists to rearm and murder more Jews, we want a lasting peace, which will only happen when our hostages come home and when schoolchildren in Gaza are taught to love the “other” and not to commit Jihad for a trip to “heaven”. It will happen when our media stops propping up and giving a platform to those who hate, and would murder, every Jew, Christian, homosexual, “infidel”, and American citizen, if they had their way.

Like you, I don’t agree with every decision of the Israeli government. I also don’t agree with every decision of our government, the French government, the Italian government, or the Madagascar government. You don’t have to agree with a government to defend its people from annihilation. First, they said “we are not against Jews, just against Zionists in Israel”. Then they said, “We are not against Jews, just against all Zionists”. Then they said, “We are not against Jews, just against any Jew who doesn’t condemn the Zionists”. Then they said, “We just hate all Jews, because they are a cancer on our society and have too much power” and we will disturb their Sabbath services, their kids’ schools, and we will use megaphones to interrupt any Jewish event on college campuses.

The Jews will be ok. We always survive and we will survive this time too. It will be tough, but we shall overcome. Yet, it’s the non-Jews who should worry, because while they always start with the Jews, they never stop with us. Hate is hate is hate, and if you don’t stand up to it when it’s the Jews who are attacked, don’t expect it to go away. You don’t have to be Zionist to stand with Israel, just like you don’t need to be African to stand with the people of Sudan, you don’t need to be Haitian to stand with the people of Haiti, you don’t need to be Alawite to stand with the people of Syria, and you don’t have to be a Native American to stand with the Crow.

To stand with Israel requires you to be a healthy human being, with a stable mind, a heart for goodness and a soul that seeks to better our fractured world.

As we drink our four cups of wine, eat Matzah and Maror (bitter herb) and recline in royalty celebrating our freedom, I will toast a L’Chaim to the four of you who have utilized your platforms to fight for the Jews and who will be spoken about for millennia in recognition of your historic role during a challenging era.

Don’t change your mind, don’t cower, don’t back down. You have G-d (sorry, Bill), light, and morality on your side and the Jewish people will never forget.

Hope you’ll come to visit us in Bozeman soon!

Have a blessed summer and continued success,

    Rabbi Chaim Bruk

P.S. Bill, I was just reading about your mother who was Jewish (which means that you are Jewish), but that you didn’t know that until you were in your teens. It doesn’t take away one iota from your objective support of the Jews.

  • Putting People and the Planet First Drives Sustainable Profitability

Putting People and the Planet First Drives Sustainable Profitability

Much has been written about the “Triple Bottom-Line” since the term was coined in the mid-1980’s.

A lot has changed since then. Four decades later, society continues to face existential threats, from climate change and social engineering to geopolitical polarization, pandemics unlike any we’ve seen before, and a sharp rise in violence in what we perceived as the most peaceful and safe communities.

The general goal of a sustainable business strategy is to positively impact the environment, society, or both, while also benefiting shareholders, but until now, the tensions between profitability and progress when it comes to a more equitable and peaceful society have left too many Triple Bottom-Line initiatives unrealized.

The triple bottom line is a business concept that suggests businesses should commit to measuring their social and environmental impact—in addition to their financial performance—rather than solely focusing on generating profit, or the standard “bottom line.”

This has evolved into ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance), which is an approach to investing that recommends taking environmental, social, and governance issues into account when deciding which companies to invest in. ESG now forms the bedrock of most sustainable investing processes.

Those of us at Genesis who continue to build a platform for supporting innovative companies whose potential to change the game is significant appreciate the metrics that have emerged from Triple Bottom-Line to ESG and turn to those metrics in our decision-making processes.

The triple bottom line can be broken down into “three Ps”:

    1. Profit
    2. People
    3. Planet

In a capitalist economy, a firm’s success most heavily depends on its financial performance, or the profit it generates for shareholders.

In the past, many firms’ goals have solely focused on economic growth. Now, purpose-driven leaders are discovering they have the power to use their businesses to effect positive change in the world without hampering financial performance. In many cases, adopting sustainability initiatives has proven to drive business success.

When it comes to people, traditionally, businesses have favored shareholder value as the success driver and measurement.

As businesses have increasingly embraced sustainability, they are continuing to shift their focus toward creating value for all stakeholders impacted by business decisions, including customers, employees, and community members.

When we consider an investment in a company, we drill down into how the company is making an impact on people, include ensuring fair hiring practices, ensuring equal pay for equal work, and encouraging volunteerism in the workplace. We also explore how companies are forging successful strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations that share a common purpose-driven goal.

When it comes to the planet, we assess how companies are committing to net-zero carbon emissions. Since the birth of the Industrial Revolution, large corporations have contributed a staggering amount of pollution to the environment. While awareness and programs are growing more popular, a recent report by the International Energy Agency found that the global energy industry released 135 million tons of methane into the atmosphere in 2022. Adjustments like using ethically sourced materials, cutting down on energy consumption, and streamlining shipping practices are steps in the right direction toward long-term sustainability.

Proof Positive: Innovative companies have shown time and again that it’s possible to do well by doing good.

In our work with startups, we’ve proven over and again that it is entirely possible to do the right thing and make money at the same time. In fact, we support startup entrepreneurs who understand, as we do, that solving the world’s problems presents trillions of dollars’ worth of economic opportunity.

We’d love to hear what you think, and to see what you are seeing out there in the real world. We’re always on the lookout for inspired entrepreneurs and teams who genuinely seek to do all they can to improve life on the planet, while measuring and managing their company’s own practices in responsible and sustainable ways.

Our bar is high, but so are the stakes.

If you admire a company that fits our criteria, let’s engage! Share here.

  • Israel’s Rich History of Technological Innovation: Ten Inventions That Changed the World for the Better

Israel’s Rich History of Technological Innovation: Ten Inventions That Changed the World for the Better

The success of Israel’s “Innovation Nation” has been stunning. Consider the facts:

    • Number of Israeli Noble Prize Winners: 13
    • 2022 Investments in Israeli Tech Start-ups: $17 billion
    • Number of Israeli unicorns (private companies valued at over $1 billion): over 70 and counting.
    • Number of Israeli companies listed on the Nasdaq Exchange: 91 with a total market cap of over $116 billion. (Israel has the third most companies listed on the NASDAQ, after the United States and China).
    • Number of multinational corporations with offices in Israel: over 300 benefitting from Israel’s renowned R&D capabilities.

Beginning in the 1960s, the Israeli government supported R&D in the defense industry, aligned with its mandatory military service, and out of the work associated with the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).

In the late 1980s, the government established the Office of the Chief Scientist in the Ministry of Economy, which in 2016 became the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA), an independent but government-funded agency.

Today, the IIA offers a wide variety of support, ranging from “incubators” for the initial stages of innovation to providing training and seed money to connecting startups with funders in Israel and overseas, while exceptional non-profits like Start-Up Nation are using technology to match entrepreneurs with partners and funders, with an impressive track record (which you can access here).

Israel’s academic institutions continue to play a strategic role, with universities including Hebrew University, the Technion and the Weizmann Institute ranked among the top in the world. These universities have educated tens of thousands of startup founders in Israel’s high-tech sector as well as its scientists and engineers.

Genesis Business Humanity’s team has created this list of ten of our favorite social impact companies born in Israel which are actively protecting people and the planet, while driving prosperity for bold entrepreneurs and committed teams.

  • Celebrating 75 Years of United States and Israel Cooperation and Innovation

Celebrating 75 Years of United States and Israel Cooperation and Innovation

The United States was the first country to recognize Israeli statehood when Israel declared independence in 1948.  This strong and meaningful partnership has been built on mutual interests and shared democratic values from its inception, with Israelis and Americans united by their commitment to democracy, economic prosperity, and regional security.

With annual bilateral trade of nearly $50 billion in goods and services annually, several treaties and agreements, including the 1985 U.S.-Israel Free Trade Agreement (FTA), are a foundation for future growth. In fact, since the FTA’s signing in 1985, the United States has become Israel’s largest trading partner.

The United States and Israel also coordinate scientific and cultural exchanges through the Binational Science Foundation, the Binational Agricultural Research and Development Foundation, Binational Industrial Research and Development Foundation, and the U.S.-Israeli Education Foundation.

In July 2022, the United States and Israel held a Strategic High-Level Dialogue on Technology to partner on critical and emerging technologies to address global challenges.

Beyond a thriving business and technology ecosystem, Israel and the United States have developed and are continually expanding a rich variety of cultural, educational, and professional programs.  Approximately 17,000 Israelis are alumni of such programs including:

    • The Fulbright Program. The State Department has supported over 3,400 United States and Israeli citizens through this flagship academic exchange program.
    • The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). IVLP executes exchange programs for Israeli rising leaders and professionals.
    • UGRAD and Education USA. These programs allow Israeli students to study in the United States; 2,027 Israelis participated in the 2021-2022 academic year.
    • English Access: This language program annually engages 700 students and teachers.
    • American Space (Jerusalem): In 2022, this State Department-administered space hosted 3,662 visitors and offered 249 programs for 8,656 attendees on topics including civil society, democracy and rule of law, women’s empowerment, and STEM.

U.S.-sponsored arts programs include an environmental arts virtual residency, as well as an exchange among Arab and Israeli youth – centered on hip hop, spoken word, and urban dance – that seeks to promote grassroots reconciliation.

Consistent with a 10-year, $38 billion MOU signed in 2016, the United States provides $3.3 billion annually in Foreign Military Financing and an additional $500 million in missile defense funding. Missile defense funding supports several cooperative missile defense programs, including David’s Sling and Iron Dome, as well as Arrow, Arrow II, and Arrow III, whose life-saving capabilities have proved vital to Israel’s security.

In 2022, the United States provided $1 billion in supplemental funding to replenish Israel’s stock of missile interceptors for the Iron Dome.

The United States is committed to promoting a more integrated, prosperous, and secure Middle East that benefits all its people.

We are dedicated to deepening and expanding normalization and integration between Israel and Arab and Muslim-majority states – as exemplified by the Abraham Accords, other normalization agreements, and the Negev Forum.  Established in March 2022, the Negev Forum – consisting at present of Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, the UAE, and the United States – advances regional integration, cooperation, and development to augment peace, security, and economic prosperity for the wider region, including initiatives that could strengthen the Palestinian economy and improve Palestinians’ quality of life.

GENESIS BH Club is on a mission to bring the most exciting and meaningful innovations from Israel to the United States and to other regions globally, inviting entrepreneurs to meet the highly successful and respected Members of our Club, with a focus on solutions that have the potential to solve the world’s biggest challenges.

  • Bringing Joy to Orphans in Israel

Bringing Joy to Orphans in Israel

Earlier this year, our generous Club members, working with Simcha Connections, based in our global headquarters city in Miami, Florida, sponsored a Shabbat Kidush at the Kotel in Jerusalem, sponsoring Bar & Bat Mitzvah celebrations.

Simcha Connection coordinates and facilitates several celebrations throughout the calendar year for young boys and girls. They conduct a spiritual ceremony at the Kotel with the families, and host a beautiful celebration party with music, gifts, and entertainment.

Each boy receives a pair of Tefilin, a Tallit, a suit, a hat, a pair of shoes, Holy Books, and a check for his Bar Mitzvah.

Each girl receives gifts, clothing, silver Shabbat Candlesticks, earrings, and a check. This great organization also provides a meaningful contribution towards the Kiddush at their Shabbat ceremony.

After the ceremony and the celebrations, volunteers reach out to the children to reconnect and continue to educate them.

Together with Rabbi Dalfin, this celebration at the Western Wall is just one of many ways in which Genesis contributes and supports the growth and development of those who have faced difficult circumstances.

Our dedication to the community, those in need, and to humanity is unwavering. We believe that every child deserves to feel loved, valued, and celebrated. We are proud to be a part of making this a reality for these orphans.

Simcha Connection strives to improve the lives of those who are less fortunate. They help widows and orphans who have experienced tragedy and grief in their lives by providing Tzedaka and other meaningful forms of assistance.

They espouse the Torah’s teachings of Ahavat Yisroel following in the steps of the Holy Ba’al Shem Tov.

“One should endeavor to be proactive in helping others and always do so in joy and happiness.” – Ahavat Yisroel.
